December News! Winter Reunion, Camp Updates, & Caribou 2019!
Hi Caribou Nation! We hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving with friends and family, and are looking forward to the Holiday Season. This past weekend we had a fantastic Winter Reunion in New York City at Dave & Busters. Campers from Connecticut, New York, DC, Boston, and Philadelphia all converged for a great night in Times Square, with tons of arcade games, ridiculous prizes, good food, the 2018 HoofPrints, and a summer slideshow put together by Sly Photography. It was amazing to see everyone and it definitely got us excited for the 2019 summer. Be sure to check your mailbox, as the 2018 Yearbook will be at your doorstep very soon!!
In other news, Bobby was recently in Chicago meeting new Caribou families and was able to rendezvous with some current Caribou guys as well; Zev D., Caidan C., and Henry F., The crew introduced Bobby to some World Famous Deep Dish Pizza, which did not fit into Bobby’s “diesel” lifestyle, but it was a great meal, and amazing to catch up with our MidWest families!
We also wanted to give a BIG shout to all of those who participated in November’s International Camp T-Shirt Day! Below you’ll find some of this years participants.
Message from Bill: BIG NEWS!! We wanted to make you aware of a Camp Caribou Canoe Trip on the legendary Rio Grande River. The trip is tentatively planned for Mid March 2019 with Bill, Bobby, and Jerry Lerman. Right now we have 8 more spots open and we would love for any Caribou family to join us! The Rio Grande flows through some of the most beautiful and desolate desert canyons on the continent and is truly one of America’s premier wilderness canoe tripping rivers. The river is essentially a mellow trip, with placid water and some technical rapids (mostly Class II). This trip will be led by Jason Cross of Smoking Rivers Canoe Expeditions and Bill Lerman. Up at camp, Eddie and Cody continue to work on our new staff housing unit and renovations to our current camper cabins. Winter has certainly arrived at the ‘Bou, we’ve had multiple snows storms and the lake is now completely frozen over!
